  1. I’ve done my Monkees homework now and am just waiting for my chance.

You wanna go Main Stage with your Monkee Business, Mwall? Let me know. If you don’t already have Back Office access, we can hook you up.

  3. I’ve raved on here about Shelby Lynnes’s recent Dusty Springfield album. Well, I went to see her live at The Iron Horse in Northampton MA and she delivered the goods live. Opened with about a half-dozen songs from Just A Little Lovin’ and they were just about perfect. Then into her own songs which were good enough that I’ll have to check out her other recordings.

Great little band with her, including John Jackson on guitar, who played with Dylan for a few years back in the ’90s. I always liked him a lot with Dylan and he was even better with Shelby. Very nice, suitably restrained solos.

Peter Wolf arrived with Lynne and I was hoping for some vocals from him but that didn’t happen.

Did anyone catch the show Saturday at the Troc?

  4. Thanks for the invitation, Mr. Mod. When I have time–and who has a lot that, these days?–I’ll write something up and then take it Main Stage. In the meantime I’m armed with notes, should the band get mentioned.

  5. Spent the weekend in New York and had front row seats to Stew’s Broadway show, PASSING STRANGE. Recommended to all, highly.

I watched the German movie from last year, The Lives of Others, last night and loved it. It was all that I expected, and I even liked the tidy historical wrap-up at the end, a device I typically grumble at while watching films. This may be hard for some of you to believe, but I’m a sucker for tales of rules-and-regulations-based, tightass purirsts who end up identifying with or becoming entangled with the other end of the spectrum. (See Farenheit 451 and Bridge Over the River Kwai.)

Anybody notice that eMusic just released most if not all of the early ABKCO Rolling Stones releases up thru Let It Bleed plus a mess of their comps? Too bad I own most of those already. Great deal.

Does this mean that the early Stones catalog is not selling?

  8. Mr. Moderator

I did not notice that. Too bad they’re probably remastered and not on scratchy vinyl, the way early Stones records (actually, all worthwhile Stones records) were meant to be heard!

It means that CDs in general are not selling and that even Allen Klein sees the writing on the wall (i.e., that he can squeeze out a few more bucks without doing any real work by licensing digital rights).

When I checked I noticed that I didn’t have Ya-Ya’s, so that’s now on my list for next month’s downloads. Is that Metamorphosis thingy worth getting?

  10. Feels like the 463rd Time!

Does anyone want to see that…depends.

I can’t believe they’re letting Foreigner in, this truly means we need to build a wall.

Massimo, Mockcarr: you guys just made my day! I’m still laffin’!
