EXTINCT!

Townsman RaoulG asked:

Who are the extinct rock ‘n roll bands? The ones that can’t even trot out one original member? Even the “Ramones” could go out with a drummer, correct?

Our old friend The Great 48 asked a similar question on his Facebook page a couple of weeks ago. The only major band he could think of that was extinct was The Jimi Hendrix Experience. I don’t recall his Facebook friends coming up with anything else. Someone even tried to shoot down that one case of rock ‘n roll extinction by citing the possibility that Billy Cox was briefly a member of what had still been called the Experience. Come on.

So, who are rock ‘n roll’s extinct bands?

Johnny Burnette and the Rock ‘n Roll Trio.

Even the most decimated bands still have one or two surviving members (Ramones, Canned Heat, Bar Kays). Only one I can think of that comes close is Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two.

  3. I was thinking about duos along the same lines as Cher. Stretching it a bit because they were never a “band” but Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell ate both gone.

So, the first extinct quartet is probably still a couple years away….

  5. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Ghoul pool!

  6. I’ll take Barry Gibb as LMS in the Ghoul Pool. He’s always seemed to be tanned and fit and I’ll bet he was getting the purest and cleanest chemicals back in the day

Hard to say, probably the last crickets will chirp first.
