I’ve been waiting for somebody to rip and post the SCTV remake of “A Star Is Born” on Youtube — and a Crystal Gayle fan finally went and did it. While he or she showed extremely poor judgement by excising Kris Kristofferson’s TV performance from the skit, they did leave in the one scene that always — ALWAYS — makes me laugh out loud. Skip ahead to 4:00 in this clip to see the funniest rock and roll “bit” ever shown on TV.
HVB
I remember that. Very funny, but it’s tough to top the musical humor of the movie itself. Go to about 4:45 in the following clip for the fully majesty of Kristofferson’s multi-untalented capabilities.

That *is* funny, a painful kind of way.
If you’re asking for contenders:
The Teardrop Awards from Mr. Show – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1mzDR3onnI
And two I can’t find working clips for:

Seems this video is comong from my Crystalsfrenchfan youtube channel…
I just want to say that I don’t have
“extremely poor judgement” over Kris Kristofferson’s, but got this video as it!
I enjoy music and movies from mr Kristofferson.
I got later the entire show that is now officialy available for sale on DVD, but did not upload the entire stuff again.
My channel is mainly dedicated to Crystal Gayle videos.
That should be said.
clm7, I’m sure I’m not alone in thanking you for the feed to this fantastic clip from SCTV. That Crystal Gayle was a LOOKER! What’s she up to these days?
Hey Mod, you are aware that Kris Kristofferson is acting the role of a washed up singer, right?
There’s lots of YouTubes that showcase his musical talents.
I watched this episode a few weeks ago (I bought the SCTV DVDs for about $20 each). Another funny SCTV skit involving a musical act was the parody of “To Sir With Love”, featuring Sir Bob Geldorf & The Boomtown Rats.
Dr. John, I am aware of the fact that he’s acting the part. For me, it neither makes it any less funny nor any less an example of the man’s multi-untalentedness. I will give him Mad props! for his part in Lone Star, and I’m sure I like a couple of the songs he’s written as well. However, if I were to compose a list of songwriters who should have never been allowed near a microphone, Kristofferson would be at or near the top.
Say what you will, but I think his voice works well with the feelings of “Sunday Morning Coming Down” and “To Beat the DEvil” on his first record.
my favorite and funniest rock bit on tv still has to be The Chris Farley Show interviewing Paul McCartney.
I could not find a clip of it anywhere.
CF: Do you remember when you wrote that song, “Yesterday”?
PM: Yes.
CF: That was awesome.
or something like that.
That may have been Farley’s best moment, Mac. Good one!
