Chris.Kooluris@ketchum.comDR PEPPER WILL GIVE EVERYONE* IN AMERICA A FREE SODA IF AXL ROSE RELEASES NEW GUNS N’ ROSES ALBUM, CHINESE DEMOCRACY, IN 2008
*Guitarists Slash and Buckethead Will Not Be Eligible For Free Soda
PLANO, Texas (March 26, 2008) – Tired of a world in which Americans idolize wannabe singers and musicals about high schoolers pass as rock ‘n roll music, Dr Pepper is encouraging (ok, begging) Axl Rose to finally release his 17-year-in-the-making belabored masterpiece, Chinese Democracy, in 2008.
In an unprecedented show of solidarity with Axl, everyone in America, except estranged GNR guitarists Slash and Buckethead, will receive a free can of Dr Pepper if the album ships some time — anytime! — in 2008. Dr Pepper supports Axl, and fully understands that sometimes you have to make it through the jungle before you get it right.
“It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper’s special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love,” said Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr Pepper. “So we completely understand and empathize with Axl’s quest for perfection – for something more than the average album. We know once it’s released, people will refer to it as “Dr Pepper for the ears” because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds – an instant classic.”

Press Release from Axl Regarding Dr Pepper
We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album “Chinese Democracy,” as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead’s performances are on our album, I’ll share my Dr Pepper with him.
Axl Rose
Coupons will be available on the Dr Pepper website beginning at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, and will be available for 24 hours. The coupons will be good for a free 20 oz. Dr Pepper, and they can be used until Feb. 28.
As of this typing, the website is unavailable. I’m curious how many more Dr. Peppers are given away than CDs purchased. I for one would rather drink a hot Dr. Pepper than listen to this album.
Keep hitting refresh and be a part of the proud crowd!
If they run out of Pepper can they switch the promotion over to whichever soda giant is behind Mr. Pibb?
Part of me thinks that when/if this happens, it could be one of the greatest comebacks in rock.
The Free Mr. Pibb offer is being extended for the next Ju-Ju Hounds album.
I wish I’d had more time last week to properly celebrate the coming of Chinese Democracy. I’d like to see the videographic work of GNR taken into the lab for analysis.
Can someone in the Halls of Rock examiine this album for us? Hrrundi? KingEd? Anyone who might have the slightest appreciation for the band? I think I read that it’s streaming on the band’s MySpace site. I’ll compensate you for the 71 minutes it would take to write up an Insta-Review. Thanks.
Let the record show that I have never like Guns N’ Roses — not even the teeniest little bit. Not even their hits. Not even their overblown, late-era, feathered-hair, Harley-into-the-sunset videos. None of it.
Just wanted to be clear.
I do have a certain train-wreck fascination with those videos Townsman alexmagic refers to, and I would welcome the efforts of any Town Haller to analyze them in detail. They are real monuments to something or other.

Thanks for the clarification, Hrrundi. This is good to know…not that there’s anything wrong with anyone ever having the slightest appreciation for the band, especially if it means that person will step forth and provide the requested analyses.
I don’t expect a cultural revolution, in fact, I stick out my mousey tongue at this record.
Gimme my Pepper!
I posted my review of the CD Cd on the “November Rain” video string.
Basically it was a two word review, and the second word was Sandwich
