If you’ve ever spent a good part of July in the woods with a bunch of strangers than you can relate to the ups and downs of summer camp. Days of beach, bathing suits, baseball and nights of marshmallows, mosquitoes, and mischief. Yet the fun often comes at the expense of the outcast, the alienated and the misunderstood. If you have a child who falls into these categories, slip this episode of SNSI on their iPod before sending them to camp. There may be at least one song that helps them get through the summer.

Great mix — Color Me Gone — great blast from the past.
Boy, I haven’t heard Color Me Gone in years, and I’ve got that ep! At least I think I do. I know I used to have it. Now I have to go look. I really love X’s 4th of July, too. Dave Alvin’s original is good, but John and Exene make it so much better.
Good summery show, cliff! The past weekend was a lot of fun for me and my family. It really feels like summer now. Now I’ve got to soak it in before I start worrying that it’s fading. I do, however, like fall, above all other seasons.
“Every Summer” was a standout track for me. “Summertime Cowboy” had a different sound that surprised me for being a type of sound I normally wouldn’t think I’d like. Very ’90s? The song after that was cool too. I’d never heard any of the songs in that block before.
The Color Me Gone song funoka and 2K were psyched to hear didn’t ring any bells for me. Maybe it also went in one ear and out the other, if I did hear it all those years ago.
I actually got my mother to send a note into school so I would NOT have to go to the camp they sent every kid to for a week during the latter part of the school year. I sat in my classroom alone and read. Just having to do that once in sixth grade was enough for me to leave the great outdoors to the bears and mosquitos who so richly deserve it.
