Today, on our way back north, we stopped in the little town of Los Alamos (about an hour north of Santa Barbara). It’s a one-street town that recently has been enjoying the influence of the wine trade tourist dollars. There’s a beautiful, old building in the center that we decided to go in to: The Union Hotel has been around since 1880 and was a hotel/saloon for the Well Fargo Pony Express and a Depot stop. But most interestingly, we were told that it was On This Site in 198? that the Paul McCartney/Michael Jackson video for “Say, Say, Say” was filmed. Which beg the questions: Why Los Alamos, California? Why an old-timey story for the video? Why was that song resurrected today when I had completely forgotten about it (although I kind of like it)? Here it is for your pleasure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLEhh_XpJ-0
Looking forward to reading this piece, and most likely – despite the likelihood of much of what Gabriel will say – geting pissed off at Gabriel again.

Hey, this was actually a good read – and Gabriel didn’t annoy me in the slightest. What’s going on with me?
As good a place as any to mention the passing of J.J. Cale last week. RIP
Chime in if you have any recollections of the man?
