In tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Shut-In, your Moderator celebrates Rock Town Hall’s seventh year in public blog form and pledges to take this place to the next level (not saying if it’s gonna be up or down) in 2014. To be fair, you may not consider this our seventh year at this URL. Perhaps you don’t abide by the Christian calendar. Perhaps I counted wrong (we started this place on January 12, 2007, if you want to check my math). Nevertheless, critics will consider this a truly remarkable episode, even by our usually remarkable standards. We’ll keep setting ’em up; you keep knocking them out!

Hey Mod,
Welcome back!
We really liked the Sandwitches tune. I was thinking maybe Kendra Smith; it had a distinct early Throwing Muses sound. Interesting, we have a few Sandwitches tunes and each sounds different. They sound sort of like a folkier Grass Widow (an LA area gal band you may like). We’ll keep an ear out for them playing around, especially as the annual Noise Pop is approaching.
You didn’t announce the last song. Iron Butterfly? The guitar riff at 33:55 reminded me of this tune a bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUkiyq6NkeU
I thought I set it up and discussed the must-see album cover. Maybe I simply intended to mention that people seek out the beautiful album cover. It’s Morning Dew’s “Gypsy.”

That Breeders song was good. I’ll have to go back and compare riffs.
Tempus fugit.
Speaking of doppelgangers, that Morning Dew song was very Deep Purple. Kinda dug it too.
Don’t know what to make of the album cover though.
It’s like a 70’s perfume advertisement in which the actors all of a sudden realized they didn’t have any clothes on. Jontue a la mode.
Speaking of ’70s perfume ads, here’s that Sandwitches album cover I also talked about:
