In the spirit of this morning’s All-Star Jam, here’s yet another rock ‘n roll tv ad. Mad props to Townsman Diskojoe for pointing out this old ad, which I don’t recall seeing in its time!
Do you have a favorite tv ad for a rock record, whether a single- or multi-artist collection?
The GREATEST as for a record ever:

The story was that this was a legitimate ad Nesmith put together. He ended up showing it during SNL. The humor was lost on the audience and many thought that this was an ad the SNL guys did making fun of Michael Nesmith’s latest project. It ended up biting itself on the rear. That Nez: what a kidder…

I loved all the old radio ads they had for albums in the 70’s. I still remember an ad WYSP ran for the John Handy album HARD WORK which he the same hip black voice that did so much of the announcing over blaxploitation trailers and ads on SOUL TRAIN.
Freedom Rock is the last near-great tv rock collection ad that I can remember seeing.
Mod, Freedom Rock is an all time classic…

Just last night I saw a tv ad for the new Prince album. Prince may have ears, but the imagery Prince greenlights makes me wonder if he’s blind.
yes. me too! he looks so young! he must spend all his non-face time (and non-studio time) in the yoga studio, under the plastic surgeon’s knife, cryogenically frozen, or something…it’s not quite michael jackson creepy, but it’s getting there.
Prince seems like he must wear pounds of foundation.
latelydavid, That Nesmith ad is great!!!
saturn, I still fondly remember that “Goofy Greats” ad, too. I’m surprised it isn’t out there. Funny the things that stay with you, eh?
Haven’t seen the Prince ad, but definitely agree that he’s beginning to get that unnaturally, almost stridently “fit for his age” look that brings to mind the Madonna we’ve been seeing over the last few years.
I know y’all give me grief when I talk of Billy Joel (and he has had some low points) but the TV commerical for Glass Houses is what made me buy the cassette – the first full length record I ever bought with my own money. He threw a rock though the window of a family house and then looked through the broken glass as “You May Be Right” played
