UPDATE #5: The Back Office thinks the transfer to the dedicated server may have taken! You’ll already notice that some of your snazzy comments from the past 48 hours are not appearing. This is exactly as The Back Office told us would be the case! So, kiss those snazzy comments and embarrassing confessions goodbye. As the veteran Townspeople among us poke around, let us know is anything is out of whack. Thanks for hanging in there!
Previously…
The Back Office is slaving away tonight in a gallant attempt to move this beast we call RockTownHall to a “dedicated” server. If you know what that means, whoopdedoo for you. If you don’t, you don’t want to.
Suffice it to say, that it is a daunting task that may or may not be successful on our first try. If all goes smoothly, the transition will happen overnight. As I type, the backup files are being amassed which means that this, and anything that is added from now until the transition takes place will be taking a detour…to The Twilight Zone.
So sit tight and
Godspeed!
Uh… wow!
So now is the time to bring your own lampshade, cuz no one will remember tomorrow, right?
6GB over ftp?
Good thing it’s a long weekend!
Yup.
That’s 6GB down to my computer via FTP and 6GB back up to the new server. Just so we’re all clear when you guys present me with the plaque.
I was planning on awarding Best Contribution of the Week to myself for my inset shot of Andy Richter with the kid playing the young Tommy, but your work will most likely outweigh my own contribution. Is there anything I can help you carry? Chickenfrank was always good at helping friends move.
Let’s hear it for The Back Office! My little bit of experience in these areas tells me what took place in the last day or two must have been nerve wracking.
Did you save this post for posterity?
This post was still up, but it had reverted to “Update #2.” Hope you don’t mind me updating it on your behalf. It’s pretty cool what you just did. I figured you guys were sleeping under the conference room desk.
Hey, these new Gigabytes taste great!
Wow is it roomy in here now! A guy can really stretch out.
CNN has an article about classic rock bands reuniting and recording new material together. The photo of Journey, Styx, and REO Speedwagon all together seems akin to Hitler, Pol Pot, and Idi Amin miraculously being together simultaneously. If I were to strap on a dynamite belt and eliminate either of those trios, would the country celebrate a 3 day weekend for me?
Stay tuned for new songs by Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire together. I assume Tower of Power was busy that weekend.
