Why didn’t I learn about this stuff the year I lived in Hungary? I’ve come across a boatload of Hungarian rock ‘n roll videos from the ’60s through early ’80s, and I’ve got to share some with you. It’s our Magyar Retro All-Request Weekend, and this first number goes out to my main Townsman, dbuskirk!

This next one goes out to General Slocum. I imagine that the bass part is something he would have dug as a teenage boy living in Budapest in the mid-70s.
Awesome!
I’ve got a fairly badass comp of 80s Hungarian popfunk if you’re interested sir. Lemme know and I’ll pass it on.
When did you live in Hungary? I’ve been a few times. My wife is a Hungarian from Transylvania. We’re raising our kid in Hungarian, actually.
Very cool, sourbob. I’ll definitely take you up on your offer. I’ll write you offlist so we can figure out how to make the transfer (ie, physical vs digital).
We lived there from October ’93-October ’94, on the Buda side of Budapest. It was an awesome year. We’ve been back once since then, and we’re looking into making another trip to see some friends we made that year.
Hey, the Hungarian Robbie Robertson sings!
Is that a Hungarian Frank’s soda coomercial?
NEWS FLASH
The new album from 50-something heavy metal rockers The Scorpions is called “Sting In the Tail.” For some reason I find this funny, in a real-life-meets-Spinal Tap kind of way.
I guess Sting can’t use that album title now.
BE AFRAID DEPT.
On tonight’s episode of “American Idol” — the songs of the Rolling Stones!
PLEASE DISREGARD DEPT.
Sorry, that Stones episode was Tuesday night. Got it Tivo’ed, though. I’ll be watching!
I was hoping we’d hear from you on this certainly legendary episode, HVB. I didn’t see it, but people in work were talking about it today.
