i saw a recent video of them live that was pretty bad. there were 3 guitarists and 2 of them were white kids. The band was also dressed terribly. they had on white button down shirts and vests and shit. Also, they were rockin that awful Terrence Trent D’arby/Milli Vanilli kinda hair.
If you are a black band and you claim to have invented Punk in the Projects in the early 70’s, you need to wear army jackets and have nasty dreads that are thick like a roll of lunchmeat.
like MOVE. You gotta be scarier than Bad Brains. you can’t be dressin like Earth, Wind, and Fire on a nostalgia tour.
the sound was weak too.
As for the question to my right, Yes I have recommended this site to some friends. One of them, a guy named Josh, signed right up under some VU inspired alias, and blew his whole opinionated load in a few days. Now I think he no longer comments because he thinks he alienated you/us. But he’s out there…reading…digesting…getting stronger every day…watching our every rant, critique…assessment…of all things rock.
To your friend, kilroy, we welcome him back to the fray! He wouldn’t have been the first Townsperson to come on strong and blow his wad early. Someday we’ll put together a James at 15-style cautionary tale about the ways we ALL take some missteps in our social graces within the Halls of Rock. It’s no big deal provided you’re not calling anyone unnecessarily nasty names. Even then we’ve had Townsmen bounce back from such missteps. Come on back, friend! We’ll all have thicker skin as a result of this HEALING moment provided by shawnkilroy. Thanks, brother.
Now, as for this band Death… I remember when that stuff went around a year or two ago. I thought it was energetic but awkward then. I think it speaks volumes that kilroy has a beef with them having white members. If they were all white dudes from Detroit would they have been the forgotten Detroit band god intended them to be? I sense they get some “extra credit” for shocking us by their culturally unexpected music. That doesn’t seem fair to the band, but maybe it’s even more unfair of me to ponder these things.
Anyone see The Stooges RRHF induction? I had it Tivo’d and just watched. Even though it was really just Iggy and The Stooge, they rocked it. Up until now the most rockin’ RRHF performance I’ve seen has been Patti Smith (and I’m not really a big fan) and I think Iggy blew that performance out.
Can someone answer this question for me:
Now that I’ve discovered Don Covay, how am I supposed to ever enjoy the Stones again????????
Exactly, jeangray. Townsman cdm and I may be able to help you work through these issues.
Come on, world: it’s Don Covay Day!
Hey All,
What do you think of this:

No. They would have been the forgotten LA band called Zolar X, who were playing a similar sound in those days. 🙂
