YouTube passed a test for me today. I typed “jane” into its search box and indeed the top hit was for a live version by the redoubtable Jefferson Starship. I’m gonna go to bat for Mickey on this one, he’s a pitch-perfect belter who isn’t afraid to pick up a cowbell during the guitar solo. In the words of one YouTube commenter, “Mickey Thomas would have won American Idol within 5 seconds of showing up season over.” I think that about sums it up.
But the best part is Craig Chaquico and his “Jefferson Starship” t-shirt. What’s the penalty for that party foul?
Indefensible: Paul Kantner from 0:20-0:24
Mod: can we move this analysis of Starshit’s “Jane” to the main stage? I have a wide range of important thoughts I need to share, and they deserve a more prominent forum. Thank you.

Yes, I’ll set it up in a second. Townsman eh, Mad Props! for introducing this important topic.
I think I’ve already posted this link here, but I found this guy’s sign at a Stop’n’Shop in Union, NJ and his bio is a fascinating read. So, I’m just trying to get more mileage out of this:

Dig the Al Jarreau clip here, especially once he finally gets to the song…
