I think you’ll find his answer more than adequate.

BREAKING NEWS! Costello Asks, “Remember When I Was Great?”

For the umpteenth time, a record label is reissuing Elvis Costello’s back catalog. This time it’s Universal. Beginning May 1, the label is reissuing a batch of the artist’s works through King of America, also known as his (Mostly) Great Period.

The albums will appear in digipaks with their original US artwork and track listings. Costello fans who have bought at least 3 versions of his reissued back catalog will be entitled to a coupon for collagen injections, Viagra, and 40 minutes’ worth of hair restoration. Those buying Goodbye Cruel World yet again will be shot on sight.

Following a short American tour, Costello will collaborate with Kris Kristoferson, Iggy Pop, and Chris Sligh before aligning with yet another label, which will release his back catalog, including the false start of the rehearsal tape for “Mystery Dance” and outtake from North.

  1. Okay, that was terrible. Reeeeeally terrible. You definitely “can’t top that shit”. 😉

I love guys telling me what Woody Guthrie thought.

Where are the bomb threats when you actually need them?

  3. This thing with the re-re-re-re-releasing of Costello’s (or anyone’s) catalog has always been a pet peeve of mine. I have always maintained that if you already own, say, one CD version of “My Aim Is True”, and you want to “upgrade” to this year’s reissue, then you should be allowed to redeem the one you already own for something like half-off the price of the new one.

I agree with you, Michael, regarding the upgrade option. But remember, this time you’re paying extra for the original American artwork:P
