Someone here likes the Spoon, don’t they? Or is there some sort of rivalry with the Knife & Fork band? Get it?!

I’ve tried to like them with little success. They sound like Steely Dan playing New Wave with Paul Westerberg on vocals…in an icebox. Cold, cold music, to my ears.
I like Spoon but this “single” is just OK to my ears on first listen. I see they’re keeping the “random-noise-element” in their recording here…wonder if all the new songs will incorporate some element of noise/dissonance as the last LP did (Gimme Fiction is a strong album from start to finish to my ears).
I never heard Paul Westerberg or the Dan in their music…interesting take Mr. Mod. but not one I agree with.
I love Kill the Moonlight the best. I dig their new stuff, but for me it’s all about Kill the Moonlight. They’re great live though! Saw them on the Gimme Fiction tour with Mary Timony opening.
Steely Dan / Paul Westerberg? Huh? Are we talking about the same band? Some first wave, OK. Pretty solidly original band to my ears. If I had to give a reference point I’d say XTC circa Big Express.
Couldn’t choose between Fiction and Moonlight if I had to. Thanks for the tip Gerry.
I’ll have to live with this track and perhaps hear it context before I can make a personal judgement. Though the cover art of artist Lee Bontecou makes me wonder if their artiness might be getting a bit forced. Then again I can think of worse things than a band trying to be arty.
I’ve seen the cover art in other places but not with Casper on it. I don’t think Casper is on the actual cover, but WTF do I know…
I knew about Dave Evans, but a desire not to live in my mom’s basement surrounded by old copies of “Creem” and “Hit Parader” magazine has always prevented me from knowing about the band Rabbit.
Having seen them, however, I can only say, “wow” — and acknowledge that I’ve definitely been missing out. Anybody out there want to form a Rabbit tribute band with me? Preferably somebody with a sister who looks like a cross between Rob Tyner and “Mrs. B” from the Facts Of Life. We need to faithfully recreate that wondrous video!

Re: Klassic Kinks Poll
Face to Face has pulled ahead of Something Else??? I’m shocked.
Re: Klassic Kinks Poll
I was kinda hoping someone with less sentimental attachment to this band than me would write in a vote for Phobia for laughs.
Hrrundi, do you know about this Dave Evans guy and his band Rabbit?
