We here in the Halls of Rock Town are sometimes taken to task for being overly negative, snarky, hyper-critical, and all too often, just downright rude. As part of our collective efforts to bring a bit of sunshine and light to the world wide web, we occasionally make an extra effort effort to find something good to say about, you know, stuff that is clearly godawful.

It is in that spirit that we embark on yet another effort to bring some positivity to our proceedings. Please spend some quality time with the video above, then — if you can — please find something nice to say about it. You’ll feel a whole lot better, I promise you.

I look forward to your comments. Just remember, if you can’t say anything nice about this video… please don’t say anything at all.

Good technique – these guys are quite capable players. Also, it should be mentioned that the mimes in the clip were not typically part of Kraan’s act – they appear to be the idea of the TV producer.

  2. Well for starters, I think that it’s admirable that no one jumped up and beat the crap out of those mimes. That shows tremendous restraint, and much more compassion for one’s fellow man than I personally have.

Also, I had no idea that legendary magician Doug Henning also played keyboards. I learned something new today, and that always makes me feel good.

It’s nice that after their expulsion from the Marcel Marceau Academy, the mimes were able to transition to some sort of employment.

The mimes provide much-needed distraction from the dull exercise in jazz-rock fusion going on in the background. Thanks, mimes!

I appreciate the fact that this TV performance gave those mimes something to do — and they were clearly allowed to do whatever they damn well pleased, no matter how silly. I appreciate that kind of free thinking in the world of teevee. Seriously!

They kept it under 4:00, I know that’s the Mod’s general cutoff for a song’s duration, so kudos for keeping an eye on the clock. Many youtube jammy songs such as this can last far, far longer.

Was that a standard screwdriver used for a guitar slide? If so, credit him for not using a nerdy phillips head.

    I like red Rickenbacker basses.

The two tone jeans on the bass player are super cool. I want those.

And I agree. Red is the best color for a Rick bass. Kudos.

  8. I like the giant Lite Bite®™ display behind the band because it amplifies the idea of making things with light as being “What a sight”….

  9. underthefloat

They were not sexist in choosing mimes.

There are no lyrics sung to distract from the performance art aspect of the show.

  10. It was kind of groovy and I was enjoying it right up until the 0:25 mark.

  11. A couple of things I think are really nice:

    1. The band members keep focused on the music and resist the urge to snicker at the mimes.

    2. The mimes who weave in front of the keyboardist as he takes his triplets solo, at the 2:04 mark, resist the urge to snicker at the keyboardist.

    3. The audience members sitting along the side of the stage resist to urge the snicker at both the band members and the mimes.

    1. Kraaan!

    2. Novel instrumentation. At 2:24 the guitarist is doing a Jimmy Page guitar bow action, but using a screwdriver or a switchblade.

    3. The clown/mime outfits immediately bring to mind Crazy Joe Davola:

I was enjoying the mimes until the clip crashed my browser at about 30 seconds into the song. I wouldn’t mind listening to that in preference to most telephone hold music, for thirty seconds at least.

    That is some serious juggling!
