Chris Cutler Rocks! Although in a very eccentric manner.

I love watching Chris Cutler drum! When I saw him on that tour he did when Pere Ubu first re-formed, wearing purple velvet bellbottoms, a tunic, and barefoot, I had trouble taking my eyes off his antics.

One of the questions answered for me is whether the band’s Lindsey Cooper was a man or a woman. I didn’t know, as well, that they had a woman bassist at this point. She’s some serious prog-rock eye candy. I also dig seeing the singer, whose name I’m blanking on at Flamin’ Groovies play in the background, in that Mao jacket. I need to shed a few pounds to I can fit easily into my full Mao suit again. An old Chinese friend of ours had one specially tailored for me years ago when he was making a trip back home. He said the tailor was shocked at the dimensions required. I took that as a compliment way back when.

  3. Dagmar Krause. I did know that Lidsay was female, and I’ve always liked her looks. I also liked that she picked up the writing slack as the other guys zoned out on “Western Culture”. The female bassist was new to me too. I really liked the original bassist, John Greaves. A few years back, when Upstirs at Nick’s was having shows, I saw Peter Blegvad with Greaves and Cutler as the rhythm section. I always liked Cutler from the recordings and while I specifically remember seeing him with Pere Ubu at the Chestnut Cabaret, watching him up close with a tio at the Blegvad show was really a treat.

The Boss made this effort at tugging the heartstrings of Philly fans at last night’s appearance at the soon-to-be imploded Spectrum:
