Your all-star clip is an ad for BBC Radio 2. If 6Music is for 40-somethings then Radio 2 is for the over-60s. This week the station celebrated the 50th anniversary of the recording of the “Please Please Me” LP on the 11th of February by having “top modern artists” record their versions of the songs. of course Mick Hucknall’s “Anna” would be worthless but Chris Difford & Glenn Tilbrook on the title track ? Not dull & pointless at all…surely not.
I just saw Alabama Shakes on SNL. Did anyone else see them just now? The drummer displayed a very specific tribute Look. I’m curious to know whether you identified it. Maybe tomorrow I can find the clip on YouTube.
Mod, I saw them do Hold On. I first heard them live on Sound Opinions and thought they were great, and I thought the same last night. The disc is solid but not quite the same.
So was his putter the first model to take on that weird grip? I know almost nothing about golf – perhaps that’s actually some old school grip, but I think it looks dumb, like faux-retro dumb. It’s like introducing one of those giant front-wheel bikes from 1902 to modern-day Tour de France racing.
I really don’t know what to think about this piece of rock archeology at my local venue that’s coming up. Glen Matlock and Tommy Ramone?

There is somethang so wrong about the idea of an Unplugged Glen Matlcok & Tommy Ramone show.

Great gear, by the way.
A second career as designer of golf clubs?!
I don’t know if he’s in the R&RHoF bit he deserves to be just for his work with the Shangri-Las.
Another in that long line of incredible producers/writers that the ’60s seemed to have so many of.
Yes, I like the CD a lot, but the live performances I’ve seen are loaded with stage drama and cool gear that heighten the experience.
