I just want to take a moment to state the obvious: the lack of a “Latest Comments” page is a serious site usability drag. Is there any kind of workaround here?
There are still key (at least to me) bugs to be worked out, such as various category and tags pages, but The Back Office made sure this one was addressed early! It’s part of our daily bread.
I have to say that I like the fact that when you post a comment now, you immediately, if temporarily, get a “high five,” which makes me think, at least for a moment, that someone out there likes me. But, then, it’s gone. And one is crushed.

Why aren’t you seeing the restored Latest Comments page? It’s been working for me for the last few days.
