From there, I paste: “I was looking for something else entirely when I stumbled across THIS buried treasure: The Band’s complete “Last Waltz” concert, as shot from what must have been the house cameras at Winterland. The audio and video sound quality is amazing and best of all, this is not only how it went down, in the order that it went down, and it’s actually how it sounded before Robbie Robertson went in and overdubbed everything. (It’s also not had that blob of cocaine hanging from Neil Young’s nose edited out through frame by frame rotoscoping….)”
Here’s another music link. St Vincent was really entertaining on SNL last weekend. Here are both songs. Birth in Reverse was especially good. Lady Devo?
Hey, thanks for posting. I’ve been in what sort of translates to a sensory (and music) deprivation tank for the last 3 weeks of the school year, and it was nice to see this when I emerged. You are reminding me that I need to get this album!
I’d say her choreography during the first song owed a lot to Byrne (Basil).
So my band played a couple songs, all covers, at a school thing, and it went pretty well. If any of you are interested, I’ll post the Youtube link here when the person who was taking video uploads it.
(I was only on one of the three songs, but we think that from now on I’ll basically be taking over as singer.)
While I’m not a die-hard Smiths fan (although I have an inkling that I’m more than many of you), Mr. Royale and I are going out tonight to hear a Tribute Band Trio: Stone Roses, New Order and the Smiths. A friend of ours does the Peter Hook role, so of course we’re going out to support him. At least it’s getting us out of the house past 9 pm!
I’m probably a bigger Smiths fan than the comment above made it seem – they’re possibly my favorite band, and I think Morrissey’s made a couple pretty good solo albums (though Southpaw Grammar is the only one I really like).
I bought her new album a few weeks ago. I don’t have many emotional attachments to it yet, but the music is cool and keeps my toes tapping. Definitely nice to hear a new artist with balls.
Nice! But, how do you miss the chance at an outdoor show to play shirtless like Anthony from RHCP? Or better; a chest-baring fringe vest like Roger Daltrey.
MrHuman, you’ve got much to build on! I thought your voice was good, the band played with more energy, and you had a good Look. Mad props to you for getting up there, doing your thing, then sharing it with us. Listen to the disappointment the crowd expresses when you leave the mic, if you have any doubts about getting up there and doing it again.
Thanks a lot! Next year we’re probably all going to be more committed to the band, and we may try to start actually writing songs – so we should get better.
I’ve been in it for a month or two, but it’s been together on-and-off for about a year, maybe a little more. This was the first time we’ve played with the current lineup (the bass player left, the singer moved to bass, I started singing sometimes).
This was posted on the blog “Dangerous Minds” the other day:

So, what are you all doing to celebrate Morrisey’s birthday today?
I might set fire to a few cows. I don’t know.

BBQ anyone?
Yes, please!

Indeed!
So I was way worse than I thought (and I thought I was pretty bad). I blame allergies and the cough that I still have.
Anyway, here’s the link (the part I’m in starts around 2:45): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nXPElEG74E

If I’d done that, it would have been the only time in history a school has told a boy he’s violating the dress code.
Yes! Nice work, MrHuman. Start writing those songs. How long has the band been together?
