A Townsperson in the news!
Hope all of you had a scary Halloween!
Fellow Townsman and I began our celebration early with attendance to AC/DC. We were third row and I can honestly say that it was the most fun I’ve ever had a big rock show. Between Brian’s showboating and Angus’s antics mixed the perfectly timed “choreography” of Malcolm and Cliff and the spot-on time of Phil, it was all I could have hoped for. Plus, I was able to acknowledge Angus when he looked at me. I just know he did. It was a GREAT show.
The next night, I saw Ween in Oxford, MS. Very different.

Townspeople like to talk about manly bass lines and stuff like they know! I don’t think you guys really know. This guy does, I bet!

FOR FANS OF THE THRIFTY MUSIC SERIES
So here I was, about to post another installment (and a choice one at that) of my ongoing “Thrifty Music” series — when I noticed all the singles I ripped sounded unusually awful, even for shitty old thrift store singles. I took a chance on a $12 replacement needle for my trusty portable record player, and hoo-boy! Everything sounds amazing now! Of course, this means I have to go back in and re-rip all the singles I wanted you guys and gals to hear. So it’ll be a while. But know that I’ve got some choice thrifty tunes coming down the pike for you soon.
I’ve been waiting for a return of the Thrifty Music series! Great to hear, HVB.
Not a difficult scene to imagine:

Grateful Dead Archivist
The University Library of the University of California, Santa Cruz, seeks an enterprising, creative, and service-oriented archivist to join the staff of Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) as Archivist for the Grateful Dead Archive. This is a potential career status position.

Thanks for the job lead, andyr. Too bad I don’t have any training as an archivist.
I like the way the ad says it’s a potential career status position. Actually I’m surprised they can fill a new position at all. My friends who work in the UC system are dealing with furloughs. I suspect they’re using non-state funds.
