Another day, another year older. Happy birthday, hrrundivbakshi! My gift to you is this inspirational performance by Hutch, who with the encouragement of some close friends took a chance, took the stage, and hit his stride as…David Soul, natural blond icon and international singing star! Don’t give up on us, baby. It’s time you hop up on stage, Townspeople, and show us what you’ve got.
Hell, HVB means so much to the Hall that I’m giving him a second present…after the jump!
Happy Birthday!
From Jeff and the guys at Musicland Studios.

Happy Birthday hrrundivbakshi.
Soul has Minnesota connections — he was actually a singer first — actor second.
Legend has is that he first performed at a Minneapolis club called The 10 O’Clock Scholar near the University of Minnesota — where a Mr. Bob Dylan used to play.
Since this is a Jam — Tonyola — if you are reading this — is this show worth going to?

Jeff Lynne asked that I pass along this performance of a song he wrote (but did not produce):

Your choice to go back in time on my dime, HVB, and see one (1) of the following concerts:
This one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz-V8HVWa_g&feature=share
Or this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dNxpsW0DMM&feature=related
I lack the ability to express how unlikely it is that I could ever sit through either of those clips.
Just about anything I see involving Jefferson Airplane/Starship live looks and sounds like a warm-up ritual to a Manson Family-style murder spree. I know HVB digs them, though, so who am I to deny him this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?
You’re a GREAT man, Mod.

Okay…errr…in honor of our friends birthday, I have started a new blog!

And in doing so, I have decided to review Flo & Eddie’s second album.
You know, in honor of birthdays everywhere…

Hrrundivbakshi to you
Hrrundivbakshi to you

Uh… Um… Well, it’s the thought that counts. Right?
Sorry for my tardiness in replying. I am mostly offline in the glorious Thorogoodian homeland.
All of you have helped make my last year a good one, and I thank you. Yes, even you, EPG.
HBD HVB! I spent half the day trying to find *ONE* solid piece of evidence for the livestock appearances on ZZ Top’s 1975 Worldwide Texas Tour, but still came up empty handed, apart from anecdotes by people claiming to have witnessed this bestial blowout (and coming across downloads of some cool Top stuff – let me know if you want the link). Anyway, here are a couple of non-Top musical interludes for you on your special day:

Happy Birthday, HVB. A hug and a kiss your way!

Cool Ben Vaughn album on his work with Ween on their Nashville album:

Thanks, Ben V. We could have saved this whole post (https://www.rocktownhall.com/blogs/index.php/whats-the-deal-with-ween/) with that single article.
I thought of that! That was your RTH contributor debut, no?
WTF? Chris Elliott’s “Action Family”?! Do you know how long I’ve been looking for that? That’s the best birthday present ever!
Seriously, I’d forgotten what that weird show was called — and now I know. Thanks!
