Say it ain’t so, Thom!
I am now torn, I am just getting into the Hollies (I know, I know. silly youngster)but have stuck with Radiohead since this song premiered.
So much unintentional greatness in that Hollies video. Allan Clarke’s hair (an obvious rejection of mop top-ism and embrace of the new California coke gestalt), his crazy 70’s magic-infused shirt, Bobby Elliot’s crazy wig, that blonde kid in the front, the earnest way that the audience is attempting to dance to this dirge.
jungleland2, may I suggest you buy that Hollies comp through the Amazon search portal on the right column of our page? It doesn’t show up as a default result, but I’ve got a cool 2-volume set of The Hollies at Abbey Road – all mono mixes. (Yikes! I see it on page 5 of the search engine’s results for $120 – must be out of print.) Each Amazon purchase through there (of any item) puts a few cents in the RTH coffers, to help pay for software updates and, I’m sorry to say, The Back Office staff’s massive coke consumption. Thanks!
This is great, Tvox, although I would caution any Townspeople who have a partner working as a high school teacher not to forward this link to their partner’s school e-mail address.
doesn’t joe satriani have a song like that too?
that hollies song is killer

Now THIS is why I am proud to be a Townsperson. Great find! (both the Hollies Vid and the Radiohead investigative journalism)
I forgot about this Hollies song..need to find a good Hollies comp and piss off my Radiohead worshiping friends
