Mr. Mod, mad congrats on the Phillies winning the WS last night. I heard it on the radio from a station in Rochester, NY while reading Ritchie Unterberger’s The Unreleased Beatles. It’s a shame that you can’t get the World Series locally on the radio.

Anyway, I noticed in my travels in the dusty corridors of RTH you have something called “Rock Crimes”. I was wondering if we can set up “Baseball Crimes” & my first two nominees would be Bud Selig & Charlie Finley (among other things for introducing night WS games which led to this year’s debacle).

  2. Congrats on the Phils, everybody. I for one am noting that the winner seemed to be announced first in bakshi’s dreams.

A question about Mott the Hoople. I’m a big fan of theirs on the whole, but somehow I’m not a big fan of All The Young Dudes. It’s boring somehow. Too restrained and conventionally tasteful or something. Am I right?

I don’t see why we can’t look into Baseball Crimes, including equipment crimes, from misdemeanors like the introduction of those Japanese brands of colored gloves (eg, Mizuno – baseball gloves should be a natural leather color and be made by Spalding, Rawlings, Wilson, and maybe another old school baseball company) and those Flo-Vent helmets to possibly the most serious of equipment violations, the aluminum bat.

The song, “All the Young Dudes”, or the album, Mwall? I think the song is excellent if restrained. I mean, they’re executing Bowie’s vision, almost like Badfinger doing McCartney’s “Come and Get It”, while Hunter leaves out Bowie’s sometimes annoying tics.

  5. Ah, sorry, the album. That song is one of the few on the record that I like. I mean, it’s not that I hate the album, but with a few exceptions it’s just boring.

Weirder rock news story to come out yesterday: Springsteen releasing a statement that he won’t be decorating his house for Halloween this year or
John Paul Jones kicking Plant out of Zeppelin?

  7. Mr. Moderator

I didn’t have the heart to read The Halloween-free Boss story. Could you summarize that for us, Alexmagic?

The thought of a Plant-less Zeppelin is a joke. Do we need to lock Page in a room with that video by The Firm that Alexmagic analyzed a few months back?

Paul Rogers has a LOT more experience fronting a tribute band now, though. He could be their ace-in-the-hole now.

All joking aside, I’ve started thinking about it a little. I wonder if I’d like them better with a singer I could stomach. I wonder if I’d have liked them if Ian Gillan sang the songs.

Have fun at the parade, Philly!

I can understand how you feel, 2K. It’s like me wishing AC/DC had a lead singer I could better stomach.

I was going to post a comment about how folks seem to have given up on the RTH labs challenge, but I see the link to the story is broken or something.

Hrrundi, hold tight. I’m looking into the situation with your post. It’s been taken down for now so no one’s clicking to nowhere. I see you have a self-hating post in the drafting stage. There’s no need to post that. No one hates you around here, at least until you post what you’re in the process of drafting:)

That self-hating post was a gag, from about two years ago, back when I was making sure this crazy site actually worked. I don’t know how to delete it. If you do, please feel free.

That’s funny! I saw it cued in a certain area I rarely visit and thought you did it again. I remember that first one. The site DID hate you then!

8 AM and people are already lined up on Broad and Market, randomly cheering shit that drives by.

I’m about to head down to Citizens Bank Park to await the end of the parade!
