    GPS – a Garmin nusomethingorother 360! I’ll never get lost again. It’s Bluetooth compatible. I can play mp3s. I’m now officially a middle-aged dork.

Since I’m moving to another city in a few weeks, I’m in the market for a GPS device. Garmin is even based in my soon to be new home, Kansas City. Tell me, why would I want my GPS to play mp3’s?

It’s a ‘Nuvi’ btw. Someone actually got paid to come up with that name. And it’s called Garmin because the company’s founders are Gary Burrell and Dr. Min Kao, which I think is pretty lame.

  4. Let me tell you from decades of experience, Jim getting a GPS is a GOOD thing.

But please – Let your kids set it up for you and show you how to use it. They will be able to show you all the cool stuff you are to resistant to learn. [ GPS as a proxy for recording technology]

Andyr, we’re recording our next album directly to the GPS!

As for why anyone would want to play mp3s through one’s GPS, this one is pocket-sized. I’ll be able to bring it with my if I’m otherwise getting lost in a strange city. Because silence and ambient noise are no longer options, rather than plug into my little iPod Shuffle and separate myself from my surroundings, I could plug into my GPS. Between the map onscreen, the directions, and the mp3s, it will be like I’m almost not there.
