I thought I’d share with you some fine pieces our Townsfolk have dropped on other parts of the InterWeb lately and then share a few thoughts especially directed at newcomers and other visitors to the site.
Let’s start with a few pieces from our Townsfolk that I found of interest on other sites.
From The Great 48, an outright friendly attack on your good Mr. Moderator’s reputation and objectives! How dare he – and don’t think we’re not flattered and thankful!
Townsman Matt shows more love for Joe Jackson’s vast output than the man’s mother could muster! What a nice surprise. I’m a fan of jefitoblog and a fan of Matt.
So, Mad Props to the voices of Rock Town Hall members, wherever they may be heard. And here I’ll put out a brief plug for what we’re trying to cook up here at Rock Town Hall – with your all-important help! (For those of you fearing moments of introspection and optimism, do not click the following link!)
Sure, as The Great 48 pointed out, a lot of play goes on at Rock Town Hall – and a bit of play-acting. Many of the everyday participants are a bit nerdy in their love of music, and that’s cool. What I hope makes some of the nerdiness not only bearable but open for true moments of communication and even fresh insight is the ability of participants to play along.
If you’re new to this place or have not yet posted a comment, we encourage you to register and consider adding to the mix. You need to register to comment, and once you’re ready to comment – hell – all you need to do is type what’s on your mind. This is an expert-free zone. Greil Marcus tried to sign up, and we had to boot him off. There’s a link to register on the right side of each page. It’s easy!
Your voice will come through, and in the mix of truth tellers, true believers, wiseacres, blowhards, plainspoken rock fans, and the like, whatever nerdiness, earnestness, silliness, passion, and whatnot you and your Pince Nez bring to the table will find a place. If we’re all so lucky, we’ll feel like we experienced a form of conversation over subjects few adults brave express past a certain age. Try it. Play along. Have fun. Thanks!
Cool stuff guys – I’m going to have to go back and read your write up on Graham Parker too, Matt.

Great – thanks Matt 🙂
Hey, here’s some cool news that I’ll bring forward when I have time. I shared the news of the Pete Townshend/Lou Reed performance on another list. Here’s something a member of that list posted today that will make that performance a little more permanent:
