I didn’t watch a lick of the GRAMMYS last night, but I just glanced at a clip from last night’s broadcast. With Awards Season underway and February just a few days away, YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, right? YOU KNOW WHAT THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY IS ALL ABOUT, don’t you?
Anyhow, did I miss anything?
This isn’t comprehensive at all, of course, but I have only three main complaints: The biggest one is that Kendrick Lamar got robbed (and conversely, Macklemore is just not good – Lamar and A$AP Rocky clearly had the two best rap albums); Bowie and QOTSA lost to Imagine Dragons (Christ!) and Led Zeppelin (for a live album that was recorded seven years ago); and Vampire Weekend beat Neko Case and the National.
HuffPo thinks Madonna is edging out Jimmy Page as Quaker Oats Guy:

Oh, and Kanye along with the two I mentioned, but I’m not a huge fan of his.
An old friend of mine was nominated! (…um, for Best Album Notes. And he didn’t win.)
I also find it hilarious that there is a whole category for Best Rap/Sung Duet.
In the clip I saw of Madonna this morning I feared her face was going to split.
Am I the only person who thought that Vampire Weekend sucked?! Yup, I guess I am.
I didn’t watch that show, but I’ve thought Vampire Weekend has sucked every time I’ve heard or seen them.
I like the National, but that last album did not stick for me. I generally like Vampire Weekend, but only if I listen to them with the mindset that they are a parody of themselves.
Yeah, I liked the first Vampire Weekend album but the last one took itself too seriously and kinda sucked. I like Alligator, Boxer, and High Violet, but yeah, the last National album wasn’t that good. I think Neko Case should’ve won.
