Nice!

I got some grief for my last attempt at playing nice. I guess Charlie Dore had too much going on with that sub-Starland Vocal Band number. See if Freak Ballet doesn’t challenge your ability to say something nice

We here in the Halls of Rock Town are sometimes taken to task for being overly negative, snarky, hyper-critical, and all too often, just downright rude. As part of our collective efforts to bring a bit of sunshine and light to the world wide web, we occasionally make an extra effort effort to find something good to say about, you know, stuff that is clearly godawful.

It is in that spirit that we embark on yet another effort to bring some positivity to our proceedings. Please spend some quality time with the video above, then—if you can—please find something nice to say about it. You’ll feel a whole lot better, I promise you.

I look forward to your comments. Just remember, if you can’t say anything nice about this video… please don’t say anything at all.

I am glad that there were no guitarists or ballet dancers hurt in the making of this video (unless you count their ears).

I’m also very happy that Steven Soderbergh decided to pass on producing this video and decided to make “Magic Mike” instead.

It’s nice that they have their name in English on their shirts, since they sing in a foreign tongue.

  4. Traditions help us maintain a connection with our collective roots. I find it comforting that no matter how hard a group is trying to push the envelope (or people’s buttons), they still adhere to certain traditions. The tradition in this case is the cinematic device that tells us if a girl wears glasses, she’s a dork, but she can shed her dorkiness if she would only just embrace the free spirits surrounding her. Her new found spiritual and moral freedom from the shackles of societal disapproval is symbolized by her discarding her glasses. Only then is she able to join the party and dance on the table (or stage, or whatever it was).

  5. This happily reminds of The Replacements song Androgynous!

“Here come Dick, he’s wearing a skirt
Here comes Jane, y’know she’s sporting a chain
    Same hair, revolution
    Same build, evolution
    Tomorrow who’s gonna fuss”

  6. I always enjoy the mach schau of faux lesbians (I presume) in leather bikinis simulating intimacy.

The video probably achieved it’s purpose in getting me mildly turned on.
