A premature premonition of Ronnie James Dio’s impending death, circa 1984, so rocked a Townsman and his old college buddy that they quickly picked up pen, axe, and other tools of the recording arts and bashed out the following number.
Our colleague, who wishes to remain anonymous, hopes that along with providing solace for fans of Dio that this ancient recording will inspire participants in Rock Town Hall’s Talent(less) Search: My First Demo, coming soon!
I’m starting to feel less self conscious about my contribution.
I’m sure that was part of Mod’s plan. It’s okay to laugh at — or maybe “with” is a better way of putting it — these anonymously posted tracks, right? I can tell you that my contribution is going to suck royally, and I’m okay with some light-hearted, we-all-wrote-crappy-music-when-we-were-young ribbing. So I say to this tune’s author: well done! Your youthful naivete is charming! Your song is completely ridiculous!

p.s.: “Like poi we would eat them”?!
I think “with” in this case because it doesn’t sound like these guys were completely serious when they did this.
When the My First Demo contest is launched, I can assure you that there will be laughter AT as well as WITH many of the demos. The surprisingly worthwhile quality of some, on the other hand, will put some of us (like myself and my teenage bandmates) to further shame. I am confident that all those participating will be able to laugh at themselves. Much healing will ensue.
I’ve done some soul searching and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t care if you list my name when you post my demo. It was literally the first song that I ever recorded and the second song that I ever wrote. The fact that it was about a quarter of a century ago allows me to view it with some detachment. If I can laugh at it, why shouldn’t you, some of my very closest cyber-friends, be able to as well?
I’m disappointed no one rolls their R’s like this anymore. Is it just Germans?

How much longer before we get to hear all these demos? I can’t wait.
nanker, the program is being put together. It shouldn’t be too land. Glad you’re excited.
I think I meant to type “It shouldn’t be too long.” Damn!
