Lou’s Italian audience is well aware of the fact that they’re hearing their man play his music exactly as he’d always heard it in his head!
This clip is sure to delight the legions of fans of this series: there’s the excited Lou bunny hop; the “Ooh, ain’t I a badass” contorted mouth and eye twitch; the painfully earnest “Look at me, Bob!” guitar solos; the comforting face off with Fernando; and the fans, Lou’s marvelous Italian fans. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb by suggesting that these fans are hearing his music the way it was intended to be heard. See if you can spot a favorite fan in the crowd. My favorite makes his appearance with 5:52 left in the YouTube countdown! I’m telling you, the fans in this clip may sway hard-hearted Lou haters like Townsman Hrrundi. Enjoy.

Striped rugby shirt dude rocks, but you gotta admit the curly mullet at the 3:00 mark is pretty incredible.
Yeah, that guy’s my runner up.
“Baby lucky shark”? Wha?
What about the woman in the crowd who looks like Simka, Latka Gravas’s girlfriend in Taxi?
Man, Lou Reed plays the guitar like he’s lifting weights. He’s the Joe Piscapo of rock.
And yet, Robert Quine still looks cool.
Good call on both Simka and Lou’s weight-lifting guitar style, Dr. John.
Quine’s soloing faces are something else, don’t you think? Sometimes he looks like he’s muttering in some hepcat dialect as he solos.
I’m sorry, I just got around to watching this and must comment.
Great points from all. It’s kind of amazing, judging from this, that Quine and Reed ever wound up working together in the first place. Their guitar faces and Looks are almost diametric opposites.
As for the crowd, equally worthy of note are the members not moving at all, especially the children in the audience. This speaks volumes about… something or other…
