Good call on this being his best face period. I hadn’t thought of that. The mouth thing was always there, but the stroke-victim eye tics seemed to increase in frequency and depth. Also, I’m trying to remember back to earlier Lou clips we’ve presented: did Lou do his musclebound bunny hop before this era?
This song got stuck in my head, and I watched it again a couple of times. This version in my opinion really suffers from 80s pumpitude, not to mention the deletion of the “I wanted to play football for the coach” prologue and the “Coney Island Baby” postlogue. In the original that frame balances out the darkness described in the middle section. Here all of the tenderness has been sucked out of the song, and the glory of love sounds like some kind of assault.
Well put, BigSteve. I really love the version from Take No Prisoners. The “football for the coach” part is essential. You also made a nice observation, earlier, about the way the man holds his pick.
Judging by the eye contact and cues, I don’t think they played this too much either.
Great Lou faces. This may be his best face period. Nice Hydrolic drum head shot at the end.

Lou holds his pick funny. And he sure does work hard at strumming elemental barre chords.
