Seriously, is it worth investing in a Suzi Quatro Greatest Hits? Whenever I revisit her stuff I like it much more than a lot of other “girl power” artists from the ’70s forward. Similar to my question regarding The Mars Volta, is this mainly a result of my having revisited her music via YouTube clips? Or is it that bass she’s playing? Or the matching leather jumpsuits worn by her bandmates? Or the ‘luded out audience? Fascinating.
I’m just glad someone posted something to displace that creep Boney M photo from the front page.
She sure is a cutie-pie!
Then there’s this:

Are you sure your newfound Quatro Luv isn’t just some weird, 70s TV-centric geezefest?
I’m positive it’s not related, Hrrundi. Back in the day I used to cringe whenever Leather or Pinky Tuscadero came on Happy Days. Suzi herself is a different matter, at least in this video.
i thought Suzi Quatro was gay like Joan Jett.
aren’t they both gay?
you still like them?
Shawn, who gives a shit? The question’s whether they can play, right?
Huh? Why would I care if she’s gay? I’m in love, man.
Mr. Kilroy, are you suggesting that Mr. Mod may have less of a realistic chance of getting somewhere in an extramarital affair with a celebrity rock chick thirty years in the past because of her reputed orientation? What are *you* thinking with?
Ms. Quatro apparently was in a family group with her sisters. Sadly, no records were made, but the photos are promising.
Considering some of the other instances of oversharing that have gone on in the Hall, it’s OK for you to admit that it’s the dog collar, Mod.
i’m with kilroy: that’s a man, man.
Well, he’s pretty fucking hot!
Wow, this has to rank down there with the dumbest RTH conversations ever. Evan bakshi (rightly) is taking the high road here, and how often does that happen?
Alexmagic, you’re a funny man.
Mwall, don’t let these guys get you down. I find a lot to love in this video, and I’ve got nothing to be ashamed of in sharing that.
mwall says:
Shawn, who gives a shit? The question’s whether they can play, right?
I thought the thread was about her being a turn on.
There’s no doubt she Rocks.
It better be about her looks, cause if its purely about the music, mwall, then I need to have a good long talk with Mr. Mod!
I listened/saw a bunch of her stuff on you tube, man that stuff blows. I was never a big glam person, but that stuff is pretty pure. Did I see her strumm her bass with her pinky?
Not “pretty pure” but pretty poor”
Mr. Mod asked if it was worthwhile to pick up her Greatest Hits. I assume that had some reference to music, because I’m sure he can get better pictures of her elsewhere.
Besides, this point that he can’t think she’s hot if she’s a lesbian is ridiculous. Just so you dumb asses don’t remain in the dark: having had several, uh, situations with women who identify themselves predominantly (though clearly not exclusively) as lesbians, I can guarantee you that they’re just exactly like other women in every way you losers would care about.
Mwall clarified:
Thanks, man. That means a lot. Let me know offline about resources for other pictures, OK?
A-Dogg, stay tuned for my next batch of songs. I can see you singing shit like this.
Let me know offline about resources for other pictures, OK?
sorry. I think she’s kinda dude-ish.
“I can guarantee you that they’re just exactly like other women in every way you losers would care about.”
regarding the above quote, i think it’s poor form to call your fellow rock nerd bloggers losers just ’cause you think we never made love to any lesbians.
Well, I wasn’t calling everyone a loser. Mainly just you. But hey, some of my best friends are losers. As a people, losers can have some decent characteristics. But most of them, I’m telling you, are just like the stereotypes.
Mwall, Seducer of Lesbians, tells us that they are “just exactly like other women in every way you losers would care about.” You mean they’re anatomically correct? Is that all Townsmen care about? The ones I know, like my sister and her friends, tend to be large rugby-playing types, a difference I think even losers would care about. That and the whole not attracted to men thing.
I found the Quatro song kind of meh, which is my reaction to almost anything identified as glam.
In this conversation, yeah, that’s pretty much it, since I doubt that any of them have come to know Suzy as a person. But it helps if they’re hot too, obviously. And therefore the conclusion: she was hot in 1973 and anatomically correct.
I was a big fan of Adrienne Barbeau’s music back in the 70s.
Big Steve soberly notes:
The ones I know, like my sister and her friends, tend to be large rugby-playing types, a difference I think even losers would care about. That and the whole not attracted to men thing.
I can only say:
Big Steve, we’ve *got* to get you a proper lesbian! There are plenty of big, unattractive straight women out there, too, you know. And when the object of lust is a thirty year-old video, the worry over whether she’s going to go for you or not is pretty moot, even in these vicarious-centric halls.
Hey, Chicken — as I recall, Barbeau had a pair of gigantic hits in the 70s. Really sizable hits, with some serious heft — you could really sink your teeth into them. I can see why you’d be a fan.
Yeah Quatro doesn’t even have dos really, if you know what I mean. Still, remember how painful it was that to see Adrienne Barbeau you had to to necessarily see a lot of Bea Arthur?
The General notes:
Correct, my friend. Beside, what I really meant to invite was speculation over all the factors that went into my unexpected crush over this mediocre glam rocker from the distant past. I was a little surprised where we took this, but not disappointed or unamused. Thanks for playing along!
Unfair! You guys implied I was not an actual Barbeau music fan. You dug Kylie for her music, and Mr Mod dug Suzie for her bass playing. I only liked Charo for her awesome Spanish guitar and Dolly Parton for her incredible banjo picking. Philistines! It’s all about the music, man.
