There seems to be a plethora of these tongue-in-cheek “tribute” bands (see Mac Sabbath), and while I’ve sometimes laughed at the concept, the music hasn’t held me the way The Look has. I like the concept of an all Ned Flanders band, but I think it would have had more power if it had been more of a twist in the Garrison Keillor vein (BTW, have you noticed how GK looks a lot like an older, more crotchety Bill Hader?). Geez, you all could write better songs!
From a literary point of view, I take umbrage at the journalist’s phrase “an almost Borgesian multiplicity of obscure time signatures.” What a load of twaddle! Incorrect usage of the term Borgesian, not many time signature changes (or anymore than your standard metal band) and freakin’ pretentious.

Yeah, that was some classic Rock writing. It totally stuck in my craw. the only thing he didn’t do was name the most obscure bands no one has ever heard of as influences in a way that would make you think everyone else knows who they are but you. Maybe it was supposed to be tongue in cheek, but it annoyed me, too.
Man, that’s worse than I thought it would be. Then again, Metal has passed me by these days, even when it’s a joke.
