In this week’s special Saturday Night Shakedown edition Mr. Moderator meets and greets beach revelers at Urges in Atlantic City. Then Lou Reed drops in for a brief interview. It’s a summer shore night to remember!

What’s that last track? I really like it.
This is not related to the podcast (sorry) but still makes for fascinating reading:

Interesting article. I’m a big fan of classic Yes but my interest in them doesn’t really go beyond 90125. I’ve heard most of the later albums and spinoffs – boring. I also saw them during the 1991 Union tour and frankly it was a snooze – at least compared to the shows I saw in the 1970s. What’s interesting here is that Geoff Downes was part of the non-Anderson Buggle-Yes of 1980. That band put out Drama which was dismissed for a long time as “false” Yes but to my ears might be the best thing Yes did since Relayer and maybe even Close to the Edge. I think it’s because Chris Squire and Steve Howe had a bigger role in songwriting which added some muscle to the sound.

“Feigned Hearing,” from Colin Newman’s Commercial Suicide.
This one just killed me–having a crowd behind you really changes the dynamic. I love the Seger version of “Love the One You’re With”. And you had a Saturday Night Shakedown and missed this Bobby Fuller Four song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNyo115l4q0 I think Bobby’s ghost is gonna come haunt your house….
Anyone going to a “Styx” show with “Yes” as the double-bill deserves what they get these days. The Dennis DeYoung replacement singer is horrid, BTW. Saw them in Myrtle Beach a few years back.
Nice Matthew Sweet nugget. I need to find that Japan album.
Definitely, I feed off the energy of the Urges crowd.
