In this week’s edition of Saturday Night Shut-In a home construction job forces Mr. Moderator to confront his rock ‘n roll hoarding tendencies, pulling out forgotten tracks from CDs buried in a closet that has since been demolished. Eventually the show takes a Philly-centric turn, although out of respect for his international audience your host spares you his recent social media rants against the demise in the quality of his beloved Tastykake Kandy Kakes, a beloved local snack cake and pie company that was bought out by a Georgia company a couple of years ago. Let’s just say the Moderator’s going to be chewin’ it old school!

i haven’t listened yet, but i just wanted to take the opportunity to remember a housemate 20 years back, who had an entire towel cupboard, floor to ceiling, filled with flea market records. I think he had bought them 1000 records at a time, or other large quantity, and I was fascinated that he had no idea what any of them were. That kind of stunt sure doesn’t go as far these days.
I liked those TSOP tracks. Are they off that big ol’ anthology from last year?
No, they’re from some proto-TSOP comp given to me by the legendary Links Linkerson about 8 years ago.
Nice show – I really like the first couple of numbers that have sort of rollicking Palisades Park vibe. Good luck on the remodeling. I will soon be dealing with a similar situation and need to “once and for all” determine what to do with my CD stacks and stacks and stacks. Mrs. funoka is relishing the prospects . . .
