This week’s delayed Sunday morning edition of Saturday Night Shut-In celebrates Mothers’ Day, in which your Moderator discusses the 3 mothers at the root of his world. Our phone lines are down today, so feel free to write about a musical memory regarding your mother in the Comments space for this thread.
Later in the show, the Moderator examines the nature of the group interview and the psychological torment in the backstory of the characters of the blockbuster movie The Avengers. SPOILER ALERT!

The first non-nursery rhyme song I knew was “Yellow Submarine” when I was three thanks to Mom. Hope I’m upholding the tradition as your grandson’s got a pretty good line on “From Me to You” just short of three.

Happy Mother’s Day, all. That was a nice collection of tunes – we especially enjoyed the Stephen Malkmus and Damon Albarn. DA is certainly getting around these days – he’s the Michael Caine or Gene Hackman of Rock!
Happy day, mothers! Nice one, Mod. I got a kick out of your analysis of the cast interview regarding their process in preparing for the Avengers movie, something which should have begun and ended with the sentence, “I read a bunch of the old comics”.
I meant their “process”, not your analysis (my initial comment could have been better worded)…but I think I’ll amend that to, “I waited for the check to clear, then read a bunch of the old comic books”.
That whole thing reminds me of an old interview with, I think, Michael Keaton, in which he repeated Jack Nicholson’s thoughts on preparation for their costumed roles in ‘Batman’, which were along the lines of, “Kid, this is the kinda deal where you just let the makeup do the acting”.
I got what you meant, and that was funny. I agree. Good Nicholson quote!
