Sounds of the Hall in roughly 33 1/3 minutes!

What a summer it was. I turned 50 and got in the best shape of my life. I’ve embraced technology like I’ve never embraced it before. No hot tub. No convertible. Just straight-up rock ‘n roll, including the completion of a new album, the digitization of scratchy records, and a few more chapters in a book I’ve been picking away at writing. I wish I was headed back to school rather than work once this weekend ends. I’m ready for the fall regardless.

Those vinyl rips sound great. I’m still running RCA cables from the receiver to the the audio input on the computer and capturing the audio (warts and all). I totally get the idea of leaving pops and cracks on some recordings, though.

This got me thinking…. is it easy for kids or younger people these days, to filter out the sounds of a slightly damaged vinyl record? Are the noises too much of a distraction to enjoy the music? We grew up with records for better or worse and are accustomed to the those noises on occasion. Of course, I notice the record noise at the beginning but after a few seconds all I hear is the song. Those pops and scratches get edited out.

  2. I uploaded this latest SNSI to Mixcloud to enable viewing/listening on non-Flash devices.

Late – that was when I listened to this. Welcome back, Mod!

Hey, if you like that Saturday Looks Good To Me business, you may also like Best Coast. (I did.)

And good call on the Doris Day evolution. I think the change in my belief system about DD is also directly related to Hitchcock’s film.
