Curious what the Hall feels about this little number—made exclusively to promote Sour Patch Kids. I, for one, think it’s brilliant. Someone posted that “selling out” is when you compromise your vision and skills for the paycheck. But I would argue that Method Man does no such thing here. Perfect in my ad-brain eyes for so many reasons. But also just for making a pretty awesome song that could live on any rap album.
That’s pretty good and funny. I’ll have to play it for my boys, who are big fans of that candy.
No problems here. I think this ode to candy is just as good as The Undertones homage to the Mars bar.
It’s better than those freecreditreport.com ads.
I’m more partial to the Education Connection ads.

I always cringe at the beginning of that when that needle comes crashing down on that record. I think the stylus suspension bottoms out!
Here’s my favorite Rock N Roll commercial:

That’s pretty great. I had no idea the Stones did that.
It’s no Sugar Sod Pops:

the comments section on this is a bit scary — don’t let your daughters do commercial work
how could a Hip Hop artist sell out? the form is primarily about marketing. the musical aspect of it is a minimal after thought. just like NASCAR.
