  1. 1. No Bieber.

    2. No Idol. It’s an hour-long karoake contest/comemrcial.

    3. Listened to an XTC record. Have caught the “Dear God” video at least twice on VH1 Classic.

    4. Listened to Classic Rock Radio. AND an Oldies station.

    5. Love the SNSI!

    6. Record player is out.

    7. Definitely bought a CD…I think the last one was the last Reigning Sound disc. It dropped off my radar until I stumbled across it. I haven’t been buying nearly as much music as I used to, but we still have a brick and mortar and I feel it my duty to buy something any time I go in (which isn’t much these days.)

    8. No homoerotic love from me.

    9. I have a 12-year-old daughter. I can’t wait until she reaches the age of reason.

    10. No secret Seger love.

  4. ladymisskirroyale

    4, 5, 7, 8, 9

  5. Yes to 4, 5, 8, 9.

    2. Even though I posted an Idol clip this week, I rarely watch the full episode, just flick in to see if something interesting is happening.

    6. The record player will probably come out this weekend after a month in the cellar.

    9. The Flo Rida’ song “The Club Can’t Handle Me” confused the hell out of me. Who thinks that? And why? Man, I can’t relate to this in any way.

  6. 2000 Man

Knowingly listened to Justin Bieber No. I don’t think I’d know if I were listening to him.

Watched American Idol from start to finish No, but it’s on right now. My wife likes it, I just tune it out.

Listened to an XTC album (or, let’s say, more than three cuts from one in a row) No.

Listened to classic rock radio Not much else in Cape Coral, FLA and I was there a couple weeks ago. It sucked.

Listened to Saturday Night Shut-In Yes, but I have to admit to downloading all those shows that HankFan recommended a few weeks ago and spending more time with those. I need to get back into the Shut In shows, because I really like them.

Played a vinyl LP or 45 RPM record Hell, yeah! I just bought new records yesterday!

Bought an actual CD Yes! And I’m gonna share it with you guys, I think.

Thought a rock star of your own gender was at least somewhat sexy No. I don’t understand how women can stand men. We’re just ugly from top to bottom.

Heard today’s “pop” music on the radio or internet and wondered why the kidz are willing to put up with such godawful trash No, kids always listen to gawdawful trash, it’s their job. They like Fruity Pebbles, too.

Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger No, but I did request that no one mention to anyone else the fact that I have Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors to any cool kids.

  7. cherguevara

    1. no
    2. no – my wife is watching it, though, so I’ve seen bits of it.
    3. Yes, skylarking. Being a xtc geek, I have a Geman pressing (yes, German true stereo) which has the original sequence. I only realized recently that I never ripped “Dear God” into my library. Must fix this.
    4. There are still radio stations?
    5. I’m a week behind, but yes indeed.
    6. Almost every day. I even have a turntable in my office at work.
    7. No, it’s been a few months. Though generally my m.o. these days is to buy the disc, rip it, then put it away and never look at it.
    8. No.
    9. Yes, for sure.
    10. That’s never going to happen.

  8. 1. No.
    2. No.
    3. I listened to 1 XTC song (Nigel)
    4. No
    5. Yes! Really enjoyed Lazy Bones by Hoagy Carmichael
    6. I bought and played about 15 vinyl LPs in the last month
    7. No.
    8. I don’t recall.
    9. No.
    10. I actually listened to Bob Segar. There’s a compilation going around with his old stuff. That song “U.M.C.” is pretty catchy. (But I am from Detroit.)

  9. BigSteve

    1. I recorded the Grammys and listened/watched selectively later. I was surprised to discover that his music was ‘R&B.’
    2. NFW. I only ever watch the bits that appear on The Soup.
    3. I don’t think I’ve listened to an album, but I’ve listened to more than 3 songs in a row on youtube.
    4. No, my radio stays on NPR. (Yes, I’m one of those people.) If I need to listen to something else, I’ve got CDs of Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour in the CD player.
    5. Yes, I’ve listened to all of them, I think.
    6. Not bloody likely.
    7. I saw a local band at my local bar and bought their CD from the singer afterwards. Usually albums are downloads to me.
    8. Not lately.
    9. No, I like pop music, though I don’t always understand it.
    10. I secretly wished I could BE the Seeg, but I wouldn’t listen to me even if I was.

  10. Being from Detroit, I know it is spelled “Seger.” That’s a typo.

  11. shawnkilroy

    2. Watched American Idol from start to finish

    9. Heard today’s “pop” music on the radio or internet and wondered why the kidz are willing to put up with such godawful trash

    10. Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger
    nope, never.

  12. trigmogigmo

    1. Knowingly listened to Justin Bieber–Heard (unavoidable), not listened! I vaguely recall fast-forwarding through some debacle involving him during the Grammys.
    2. American Idol from start to finish–God no.
    3. XTC–I had English Settlement cranked recently.
    4. Listened to classic rock radio–Never do these days.
    5. Listened to Saturday Night Shut-In–Yes. And as a matter of fact, HVB’s RTH theme guitar riff keeps popping into my brain all the time.
    6. Played a vinyl LP or 45 RPM record–No.
    7. Bought an actual CD–Yes, in fact an Amazon box including Bowie and Twilley was waiting on my doorstep when I returned home from a biz trip today, inspired by recent RTH discussions.
    8. Thought a rock star of your own gender was at least somewhat sexy–While in Australia I was reflecting on Aussie rockers, and there’s no denying INXS front man Michael Hutchence qualified, objectively speaking.
    9. Heard today’s “pop” music on the radio or internet and wondered why the kidz are willing to put up with such godawful trash–Kinda yeah.
    10. Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger–What?!

  13. 5, 6, 8 & 9.

  14. Only #7 I’m afraid, and it was only to replace my lost copy of The Kinks Kronikles, which for whatever reason still isn’t being sold in digital copies.

Wait, does the last month include February since we’re only sort of into March? If so, then I definitely listened to Saturday Night Shut-In as well.

  15. “I even have a turntable in my office at work.”

That’s awesome. I have to ask, what do you do?

  16. 1. Knowingly listened to Justin Bieber

I still have no idea what he sounds like.

    2. Watched American Idol from start to finish

That has never happened, let alone in the past month.

    3. Listened to an XTC album (or, let’s say, more than three cuts from one in a row)

    No

    4. Listened to classic rock radio

Not voluntarily, but I’ve probably heard it somewhere.

    7. Bought an actual CD

    Yes to that as well.

    8. Thought a rock star of your own gender was at least somewhat sexy

    No.

    9. Heard today’s “pop” music on the radio or internet and wondered why the kidz are willing to put up with such godawful trash

Today’s pop music doesn’t bother me. Every now and then I hear a song I like. Otherwise it just flies by in a non-remarkable blur.

    10. Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger

My Seger listening is not done in secret.

  17. saturnismine

    5 and 6.

    8. Thought a rock star of your own gender was at least somewhat sexy: Other than Seger? No.

    9. Heard today’s “pop” music on the radio or internet and wondered why the kidz are willing to put up with such godawful trash: Well, I saw a few minutes of the Grammys, and while I have no recollection of who I saw perform, it was crappy.

    10. Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger: To quote U2, it’s no secret at all.

    Knowingly listened to Justin Bieber

    No, of course not.

Watched American Idol from start to finish

    No, of course not.

Listened to an XTC album (or, let’s say, more than three cuts from one in a row)

I happily listened to the Dukes of Stratosphear just prior to the cut-off date for research purposes.

    Listened to classic rock radio

    Yes.

    Listened to Saturday Night Shut-In

    Yes.

Played a vinyl LP or 45 RPM record

    No.

    Bought an actual CD

No. I legally e-bought something, but no physical purchases in the past month.

Thought a rock star of your own gender was at least somewhat sexy

While pondering the New Order video, naturally I briefly considered what it would be like to have engaged in some kind of free-spirited, open relationship with Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert in that era.

Heard today’s “pop” music on the radio or internet and wondered why the kidz are willing to put up with such godawful trash

    Go to bed, old man.

Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger

Never. When I want to listen to Seger, I listen to Seger. I don’t care where I am or what I’m doing. When it’s Seger-listening time, I listen to Seger, and nobody stops me. Ever.

  21. 2, 6, 7.

  22. mockcarr

    4 and 5

  23. 1. Bieber
I really could not name a song he has.
    2. IDOL, never ever
    3. XTC album
    Sadly no.
    4. Listened to classic rock radio
Does XM’s First Wave count — probably not.
    5. Listened to Saturday Night Shut-In
    YES!
    6. Played a vinyl LP or 45 RPM record
NO. I no longer own a turntable.
    7. Bought an actual CD
YES! I will admit, which is tough to do here, it was 50% off at Borders — a Corrine Bailey Rae covers EP (The Love EP) that includes versions of Wings’ My Love and Prince’s I Wanna Be Your Lover.
    8. Thought a rock star of your own gender was at least somewhat sexy
    Um — No
    9. Heard today’s “pop” music? Can you escape it?
    10. Secretly wished you could be listening to Bob Seger — My feelings on Seger are:
“Never wanted to be no Bob Seger — never wanted to hear no Bob songs” — to the tune of John Mellencamp’s “Pop Singer.”
