The following video was passed along to me by Townsman bostonhistorian to share with fellow Townspeople along the eastern seaboard. I can’t tell you how much solace—and strength—this is providing me and my family. I hope it serves likewise for you and yours…after the jump!

    Always happy to help!

Thanks for that. It really did give me a much-needed boost in these difficult times.

Ah, I feel so much better now. And thanks for giving me a much-needed boost of nostalgia for seeing the band in 1980 or so, and for batwing tied-at-the-navel shirts worn with white satin pants. I know I’ll sleep well tonight.

  4. I hope everybody is making out OK. The worst seemed to pass by midnight. The giant tree right next to our house, one of two that had been scheduled to come down earlier this week (the tree guys have yet to come back for the giant one), is still standing. My records are safe.

  5. Thanks for this — because that’s just what we did last night — rode it out and rocked the night away because we had power! We were pretty surprised, because we usually lose electricity in our part of Northern VA during a stiff breeze. I have never been through such a period of sustained high wind in my life.

We did not listen to any REO, but we did have some Aerosmith flying — as well as Dusty Springfield — some Jam (thanks to the recent poll) a 2009 James Bond theme compilation, and when the child went to bed, some new music from Gary Clark, Jr., Pinback, and a Minneapolis band that worships The Replacements called High On Stress.

I hope all RTHers are safe sound this AM.

Hey, I think that’s the last song, people. It’s a mess around here and the barely 30 something guy that’s my counterpart just said he thought we were just staying home and working remote cases today (we have 2, so we would be done working by ten minutes after we started). I told him I was going out. The wind has died down considerably, and at the moment it isn’t even raining. I don’t have power at my house, but I’ll make do. I have a feeling if it’s a bad winter, I’ll be on my own a lot.

I wish I had the day off, though. That would be cool by me.

Excellent Poseidon Adventure reference, Mr. Mod, but original cast recording or Maureen McGovern commercial release?

  8. That’s one of those films, ohmstead, like Easy Rider, The Ten Commandments, and Planet of the Apes (original), that run deep in my consciousness.

Lately I’ve been curious to see if I can rent or otherwise watch Willard, another key movie in my childhood that never seems to be shown on television.

I am right there with you on ’70s cinema…Willard scared the shit out of me…was just checking it out and saw the Bing Crosby was one of the producers of the movie…wierd.

  10. Wasn’t Bing a cruel dad? Maybe the movie spoke to him.
