Lou Reed – The Way He’s Never Wanted To Look
Just catching up on a stack of magazines and I read this in a review of Lou’s Berlin film from Uncut about 18 months ago: “A Lot of the fascination of the film comes down to the fact, that since an accident a couple of years ago, Lou can no longer wear shades.”
In an accompanying interview, Lou says “Yeah. If I wore shades on stage I’d fall off! Or trip over a cable! Those days are finished for me!”
Hey! And I jus’ read about some Chamber Orchestra doing a version of “Metal Machine Music.” Perhaps that sheet music has seen the light of day finally. I’ll see if’n I can find the link.

Forgive me, but I think Lou Reed is one of the most over rated musicians/artists of all time. What the heck do people see, feel, or more obviously hear in this guy? Even Rock n Roll Animal is just so completely over rated.
writhearnow–what people see in Lou Reed:
1. The greatness of VU
2. A smattering of strong solo records
What they choose not to see:
1. An awful lot of uninspired, dull, or simply lousy solo records
writehearnow, I’ve tried to articulate my love for Lou Reed – warts and all – many times over the years. Here’s one piece I found in our archives, which explains the thinking behind one of our popular ongoing series:

Mod, thanks for the Lou clip! Wow, is that wacky! (Mostly in a good way.) Half of the audience looks like they are having The Greatest Moment of Their Lives and the other half looks like they’d rather be anywhere else. Any info on the venue?
But I was distracted by the fact that Lou looks a bit too much like Joe Piscopo at times.
Go to the 40-second mark of this clip, misterioso:

That’s fantastic. It had never hit me before, somehow.
