TELEVISION REVIEW
‘Nova: Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives’By ROBERT LLOYD, TELEVISION CRITIC
“Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives” is not your usual edition of “Nova,” the PBS science anthology. The film, which airs tonight, follows rock musician Mark Oliver Everett — better known as E, leader of Eels — on a journey to discover the physicist father he never really knew and to understand something of his “Many Worlds Interpretation” of quantum mechanics — at first, painfully ignored, but now taken quite seriously.

I do hope Townsman Mac sees this. Isn’t he our big eels fan?
I had heard this was coming out, but haven’t had a chance to see it yet. It must be pretty weird to be the kid of the guy who caused a science fiction explosion as well as made a pretty massive contribution to science.
By the way, anyone looking for a sample of live Eel’s music can download a free EP from a 2005 Manchester show on his website:

I caught a bit of that last night, the really weird thing was they described him as a “rock star”. Blue Meanie’s kids used to have the Eels’ “I Like Birds” as one of their particular favorites, which was somewhat unsettling.
Speaking of the Eels, I just read a review of a recent local Lucinda Williams concert, and it seems her current rhythm section consists of former Eels — Jonathan “Butch” Norton on drums and David Sutton on electric and stand-up bass. Seems like an odd pairing.
