The following is the greatest cover of all in my book. An oddly sourced cover that sits perfectly in this band’s debut album. It’s of a piece with the album and yet maintains a stylistic connection to the original.
Hey @BigSteve how you doing, I just saw one of your thread which was from 2009( Makin Love , Rock n roll pick up lines ) . I didn’t actually hope this website’s still running. It’s good to see you here man!!! I hope you’ve a great day .
Ha! It took me a long time to understand the subtlety of that album cover. OH, the piece of pie is symbolic of her Hoo-Ha. Did they know that the Album cover for Mom’s Apple Pie did that trick already?
Are we talking about cover versions of songs? If so, the Mod came pretty close with Watchtower but I think the Clash were great at covers and I would place I Fought the Law as number 1 closely followed by Police on My Back.
Also, I really like Tiny Bradshaw’s version of Train Kept a Rollin’ but I prefer the other three more well known rock versions in chronological order: Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio, the Yardbirds, and Aerosmith .
I saw something where people were discussing their 5 favorite songs. I don’t know what mine are, but Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio’s Train Kept a Rollin’ is probably my favorite song. I really love that, I have since I was a kid.
chickenfrank, if anyone ever told me that I would have giggles that may carry over to when I’m trying to fall asleep simply from reading the words “Hoo-Ha,” I would have said, “No way!”
Best album cover? Yeah, I’ll agree with Whipped Cream and Other Delights.
Best cover of a Rock song? If Rock includes ballads- and it does- the champ has got to be ‘Without You.’
Nilsson took a very nice Badfinger song and made it as monumental as the pyramids.
I like Uncle Tupelo. I like this cover. Greatest cover? Not even the greatest cover of I Wanna Be Your Dog.” I prefer the Alejandro Escovedo version.

I’m pretty banjophobic, but I like it. In a way it’s not exactly a cover, more like reusing the words by singing them over a different song.

I thought you meant the ALBUM cover was the best cover. Of course that can’t be true because Whipped Cream and Other Delights is the best album cover.
Or Warrant’s Cherry Pie.
Boring answer but true: “All Along the Watchtower,” by Jimi Hendrix.
