Let’s say we’re celebrating Thanksgiving in the Halls of Rock with each Townsperson bringing a regional delight from his or her hometown or current place of residence. One song per Townsperson, please. What are you bringing?
The Pedaljets were a KC/Lawrence band from the 80s that I don’t remember hearing about before I relocated. They broke up after a disappointing second album, but they recently released a reworked version of that album, and it’s quite good. My understanding is that they’re currently semi-reunited. Here’s a well-recorded song from a reunion gig which took place a few blocks from my house, but a little before I moved here.
Mark Kozelek continues to play locally, solo or with members of his previous bands, Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon. He occasionally appears in indie movies, too. I really like his voice and his wistful lyrics, esp. “Summer Dress.” But for this holiday, we’re bringing one of his interesting covers, “I’ll Be There.”
